About Soft & Sweet Bare Root Rose Bush
Rosa ‘JALsosweet’ — Soft & Sweet
🧬 Breeder: Brad Jalbert, Canada
🌹 Introduced: 2020
🌹 Rose Type: Floribunda
🍋 Buttery yellow blooms, creamy scalloped edges, and a sweet citrus perfume make Soft & Sweet every bit as lovely as its name.
Soft & Sweet is sunshine softened around the edges.
Pointed butter-yellow buds open into full, romantic rosettes, with the warmest yellow concentrated toward the heart of each flower. As the blooms mature, the outer petals become increasingly pale and creamy, creating a beautiful gradient from buttery yellow to soft cream.
The gently scalloped petals add even more texture, giving the flowers a delicate, ruffled appearance.
And then comes the “sweet.”
Soft & Sweet carries a lovely sweet citrus fragrance that complements its cheerful coloring without overwhelming the garden.
With continuous bloom, clusters of flowers, glossy healthy foliage, and impressive cold hardiness, this is a rose that's just as practical as it is pretty.

🍋 Soft Color. Sweet Fragrance.
The name really does tell the story.
Soft comes from the coloring.
The flowers aren't a harsh or brassy yellow. Instead, they begin with a warm butter-yellow heart that gradually melts into creamy, paler outer petals.
Sweet comes from the fragrance.
Lean into the flower and you'll discover a gentle perfume with fresh, sweet citrus notes.
Together, they create a rose that feels cheerful without being loud—warm, romantic, and incredibly easy to pair with other colors in the garden.
💛 Why Grace Rose Farm Loves It
Think buttercream frosting with a squeeze of fresh lemon.
That's Soft & Sweet.
We love the way the flowers transition from warm buttery yellow at the center to pale cream along those beautifully scalloped edges. Put several blooms together in a cluster and the plant develops layers of soft yellow rather than one solid block of color.
Then there's the fragrance.
That touch of sweet citrus makes the flowers even more appealing up close.
But perhaps what makes Soft & Sweet most exciting is what's underneath all those pretty flowers: healthy foliage, continuous bloom, disease resistance, and serious winter hardiness.
It's soft.
It's sweet.
But it's definitely not delicate.
🌿 Growing & Care Recommendations
Planting Site: Choose a location in full sun with fertile, well-drained soil.
Spacing: Allow approximately 3 feet between plants to accommodate mature growth and encourage good air circulation.
Watering: Water deeply after planting and maintain consistent moisture while your bare-root rose establishes its new root system.
Pruning: Prune in late winter or early spring, removing dead, damaged, or weak growth and shaping the plant to encourage vigorous new flowering stems.
Cold-Climate Gardens: Soft & Sweet's impressive winter hardiness makes it particularly appealing for gardeners looking for romantic Floribunda-style flowers in colder climates.
Color Pairing: Its creamy butter-yellow coloring pairs beautifully with blush pink, apricot, peach, lavender, mauve, white, and deeper plum roses.
