About Hella® Bare Root Rose Bush
Hella® — Kordes Climbing Rose
🧬 Breeder: W. Kordes’ Söhne, Germany
🌹 Introduced: 2009
🌹 Rose Type: Climbing Rose
🤍 A vigorous, winter-hardy white climber covered in snowy blooms with glowing golden centers.
Hella® brings a completely different kind of beauty to the climbing rose garden.
Rather than enormous, heavily petaled flowers, Hella® produces an abundance of pure white, semi-double blooms that open wide to reveal a beautiful cluster of golden-yellow stamens. The effect is fresh, airy and wonderfully natural—especially when the plant is covered in flowers.
And covered it can be.
Hella™ is a vigorous, exceptionally floriferous climber with long, flexible canes that can be trained over arches, pergolas, fences and walls. It flowers repeatedly, beginning in early summer and continuing with additional flushes into fall.
Its combination of vigorous growth, excellent plant health, winter hardiness and repeat flowering earned Hella™ the prestigious German ADR designation in 2010.

🏆 An ADR Award-Winning Climber
Hella™ earned Germany's prestigious ADR designation in 2010.
ADR rose trials are designed to evaluate roses under real garden conditions, with particular attention paid to characteristics such as plant health, flowering performance, hardiness and overall garden value.
Hella™ has also received recognition in international rose competitions, including honors at Tokyo and Baden-Baden.
It's a beautiful example of the modern Kordes breeding philosophy: create a rose that's lovely in bloom but also capable of performing where it actually matters—in the garden.
🤍 Why Grace Rose Farm Loves It
Hella™ looks like someone scattered white stars all over a climbing rose.
There's something incredibly refreshing about its flowers. The blooms aren't trying to hide their centers beneath hundreds of petals. Instead, they open into snowy-white cups surrounding brilliant golden stamens, giving the plant a lighter, more natural garden style.
And when Hella™ gets going, there are a lot of them.
We also love its versatility. The long, flexible canes can be trained across an arbor, pergola, fence or wall, and its ability to tolerate some partial shade gives gardeners more options for placement than many climbing roses.
Best of all, this is a cold-hardy Kordes climber with the vigor to create a substantial garden display.
For anyone dreaming about a white rose-covered arbor, Hella™ deserves a serious look.
🌿 Growing & Care Recommendations
Planting Site: Choose a sunny location for maximum flowering. Hella™ can also tolerate partial shade.
Support: Provide a sturdy arbor, pergola, fence, wall or trellis and begin training the young canes early.
Training Tip: Rather than allowing every cane to grow straight upward, train the long flexible canes horizontally or in a gentle fan shape whenever possible. This encourages flowering shoots to develop along more of the cane.
Watering: Water deeply after planting and maintain consistent moisture while your bare-root rose establishes its root system.
Pruning: Avoid heavily pruning a young climbing rose while it establishes its framework. Once mature, remove dead or damaged wood and selectively renew older canes as needed.
Pollinator Garden: The open, semi-double flowers and exposed golden stamens make Hella™ a particularly attractive choice for gardeners who enjoy a more wildlife-friendly rose garden.
Cold Climate Care: With its strong winter hardiness, Hella™ is an especially appealing climbing rose for gardeners in colder regions.
