About Easy Elegance® Calypso™ Bare Root Rose Bush
Rosa ‘BAIypso’ — Easy Elegance® Calypso™
🧬 Breeder: Ping Lim / Easy Elegance® Roses
🌹 Rose Type: Compact Shrub Rose
🍑 A petite mound covered in fluffy apricot-pink roses—Calypso™ packs an impressive amount of flower power into just two feet of garden.
Some roses need plenty of room to make an impression.
Calypso™ doesn't.
This charming Easy Elegance® rose matures at only about 2 feet tall and 2 feet wide, forming a naturally compact mound covered in clusters of soft, romantic flowers.
The blooms open in beautiful shades of warm apricot, often developing softer pink tones as they mature. Each approximately 2½-inch flower carries around 25 petals, creating a fluffy double bloom that looks especially pretty against the plant's glossy, dark-green foliage.
And Calypso™ doesn't put on just one show.
It is a recurrent bloomer, producing new flushes of flowers throughout the growing season.
Small garden?
Small patio?
Front of the rose border?
Calypso™ was made for it.

🍑 A Little Apricot Cloud
Calypso™ is all about softness.
Its flowers aren't screaming orange or bright yellow.
Instead, they're painted in gentle apricot tones with touches of pink, giving the plant a wonderfully romantic appearance.
Against the dark glossy foliage, the color almost seems to glow.
And because those flowers appear in abundance over a naturally mounded little shrub, a mature Calypso™ can look like a two-foot cloud of apricot roses.
🌹 25 Petals on a Petite Plant
At around 2½ inches across, Calypso's flowers aren't enormous.
They don't need to be.
Each bloom carries approximately 25 petals, giving it a wonderfully full appearance.
Then the plant produces them in abundance.
Instead of relying on one enormous flower for impact, Calypso™ creates its show through clusters and repetition.
It's a different kind of rose drama.
More flowers.
Less real estate.
🪴 Small-Space Gardeners, This One's for You
Here's where Calypso™ really earns a place in the garden.
2 feet tall.
2 feet wide.
That's wonderfully compact for a repeat-flowering shrub rose.
It means Calypso™ can go places larger roses simply can't.
Plant it along the front edge of a rose garden.
Tuck it between perennials.
Use several along a walkway.
Plant it beneath a window.
Or grow it in a beautiful patio container.
For gardeners who insist they don't have enough room for another rose—
we may have found a loophole.
🧬 Bred by Ping Lim
Calypso™ was bred by renowned rose hybridizer Ping Lim and selected for the Easy Elegance® collection.
Ping Lim's breeding work has focused heavily on something home gardeners desperately need:
Beautiful roses that are also good garden plants.
That means combining attractive flowers with characteristics like disease resistance, winter hardiness, repeat blooming and manageable growth.
Calypso™ is a perfect example.
The flowers have the soft color and double form rose lovers want.
But the plant underneath them is compact, hardy and exceptionally useful in the landscape.
🌿 The Easy Elegance® Difference
Easy Elegance® roses were developed to take some of the intimidation out of growing roses.
The collection emphasizes plants with:
Strong disease resistance
Reliable repeat flowering
Cold hardiness
Attractive foliage
Naturally pleasing growth habits
Reduced maintenance
Calypso™ takes that philosophy and shrinks it into an adorable 2' × 2' package.
💛 Why Grace Rose Farm Loves It
Calypso™ is what happens when a rose decides it doesn't need a lot of space to be fabulous.
We love its soft apricot coloring.
We love those fluffy little 25-petal flowers.
We love the dark glossy foliage behind them.
But mostly?
We love the size.
At approximately 2 feet by 2 feet, Calypso™ can squeeze into places where you thought you were officially out of room for roses.
Front of the border?
Absolutely.
Patio pot?
Perfect.
Between your favorite perennials?
Do it.
It's compact, repeat flowering, disease resistant and hardy through Zone 5.
Go ahead. You have room for one more rose.
🌿 Growing & Care Recommendations
Planting Site: Choose a location receiving at least 5–6 hours of direct sunlight daily. Full sun will encourage the strongest flowering.
Soil: Plant in fertile, well-drained soil. Roses dislike sitting in persistently waterlogged soil.
Spacing: Allow approximately 2–2½ feet between plants when mass planting to give each shrub room to develop its naturally rounded habit.
Watering: Water deeply and consistently while your bare-root rose establishes. Once growing actively, deep watering encourages a stronger root system than frequent shallow watering.
Pruning: Prune in early spring, removing dead or damaged stems and lightly shaping the plant as needed.
Fertilizing: Apply a balanced rose fertilizer as new growth begins in spring and continue according to your feeding program through the active growing season.
Container Growing: Calypso™ is an excellent choice for a substantial patio container. Choose a container with excellent drainage and remember that container-grown roses will require more frequent watering.
Mass Planting: Try planting three, five or more Calypso™ roses together. Their compact mounded habit can create a beautiful low sweep of apricot color.
