Getting to Know: Christine

Grace Rose Farm

August 06, 2021

As our farm has grown over the years, we found ourselves seeking help in areas we didn’t have experience. There were projects I wanted to explore, but didn’t know where to begin. We were starting to receive inquiries from press and publishers and that’s definitely not our area of expertise. Christine came to us at the perfect time with her publicity and publishing background and in the last year we’ve begun exciting projects we can’t wait to share with you! Here’s a little about Christine and what she does with our farm.

Christine Chitnis is a writer and photographer based in Providence, Rhode Island. The author of four books—including Patterns of India (Clarkson Potter, 2020)—and a contributor to publications including the New York Times, Martha Stewart Living, Boston Globe and Country Living, Christine has not only earned a reputation as a multi-talented storyteller, but also as a trusted strategist in the lifestyle publishing sector.

From book proposals to publicity, Christine helps fellow business owners and creatives translate their unique skills into marketable concepts. Working with first-time authors and seasoned writers alike, her vast network of editorial relationships and publishing experience has helped clients land contracts with respected publishers, features in top tier publications and even prestigious rankings on the New York Times Best Seller list. Christine also brings a practical understanding of book promotion to her projects, helping clients secure sponsored book tours and paid brand collaborations. In her own work, Christine has long been inspired by the natural world and the craft of local artisans. From childhood summers in Northern Michigan, to the farms and coastline of her home in New England, to exploring the culture of Rajasthan with her husband, Vijay, she enjoys sharing this passion for discovery with her three young children—Vijay, Vikram and Meera.

What's your role at Grace Rose Farm?

Technically, my role is that of a publicist, but since I joined the GRF team over a year ago, my role has grown and expanded. Not only do look for opportunities to share our work with a wider audience, I also write much of the content that we share on our website and blog. Along with Gracie, Ryan and E'Ana, I am part of the core team that manages daily business operations, strategic outlook, and large projects. We've been working on a big, exciting creative project that we'll be telling you about soon, and I've been leading that charge. I can't wait to share more!

What do you love most about your role?

I love working with Gracie, Ryan and the whole Grace Rose Farm team. We have so many big dreams and goals for the business, and I love being a part of the process that eventually turns those dreams into reality. My first year was full of challenges- Covid, wildfires, drought, and moving to the new property- so I can't wait to see what we can achieve once things have settled down a bit. Although Mother Nature is always throwing us curveballs!

What's your favorite rose?

I can't choose just one! I am a sucker for romantic, ruffled pink, peach, and apricot roses, so a few of my favorites are Carding Mill, Princess Charlene of Monaco, Alnwick, and State of Grace. But I'm always discovering a new favorite as I get to know all of the varieties we grow.

Christine has been working remotely with us for the last year and a half and we’re so excited to finally have the opportunity to work together in person this fall! Our biggest project to date is underway and we can’t wait to tell you all about it soon! Christine has provided me with steady, thoughtful guidance. She sees opportunities and situations objectively and knows how to steer our farm to just where we need to be. I’m increasingly grateful for her support and think it’s a great time to tell you all about our friend and colleague. You can follow her on Instagram at @christine.chitnis.
